We’re Moving!

As soon as things start to settle in, we always have to find some way to stir them up again. This time we were all settled after our sweet new babe, N arrived and we were adjusting well. Then at nearly 3 months old we decided to move!

Where are you moving to?

Back to Washington we go! We have agonized for a long time now about where to live. We love our Virginia family and friends, and we feel sad to have to leave them all (seriously, YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!) but we had to follow our souls back to the West Coast. The Virginia countryside is so, so beautiful–it’s breathtaking here– but there doesn’t seem to be anything like the rainy forests of the Pacific Northwest.

We hope to use our time in the Pacific Northwest to learn and grow as human beings, become more in tune with our true selves, detach a little from the hustle and bustle that seems so escapable where we are (especially when your commute is nearly 4 hours a day).

Will you live there forever?

Maybe. We can’t say for sure. We certainly have a travel bug, and love going and exploring new places. We are and have always been open to traveling, and even moving to new places, foreign and domestic. We hope to expose our children to as much of the worlds beauty as possible.

When are you moving?

Soon! We make our grand trek around the beginning of Summer. We are fortunate to have many friends and family in the area to help us make a quick and smooth transition into our new routine.

Are you excited to move?

I’m from the Pacific Northwest, so honestly I am so stoked. Where we live is fantastic in many ways. I mean no disrespect to the area. haven’t missed it living here, I’ve never much felt homesick. But I am so ready for a change. I can’t wait to eat California style burritos, Street tacos, GOOD Mexican food, take my kids to see tidal pools, take them clam digging, drop a crab net, catch fish, eat Korean BBQ and Bahn Chan, take them to Seattle and the Space Needle, the Pacific Science Center (my favorite place, though I’m sure there are other great ones too), Pike’s Place Market. To Mount Rainer and Mount St. Helens. To Portland to ride the IMAX and visit VooDoo doughnuts (or maybe I’ll go alone because I’m sure it’s insane). Out to the rainforest to camp under ancient forest canopies in the rain. I need to teach my kids why we wear socks (no one here seems to understand). I need them to eat good Thai food, and experience real Pho. I can’t wait for them to swim in lakes that aren’t surrounded by parks. And walk on beaches that aren’t in front of resort towns.

Anyway, I’m excited. We all are. Ready for the next big adventure together as a family.
