Simple DIY Cardboard Montessori Number Box Template

DIY Montessori number card box made with recycled cardboard and hot glue

Hi friends! Today I have another simple template for you. Previously I made several sets of numbers to do our Montessori math exercises, using the small and large number templates from Montessori Print Shop and backing them with cardboard. They’ve been working great! But we’ve been using trays we already had to contain them, and it’s been a little sloppy. So I set our to make some simple trays that would fit them perfectly.

I took a few measurements and checked out different boxes from commercial suppliers. Then I drafted a quick template, printed it out and used it to cut out the necessary pieces (maybe have to trim the ends of pieces slightly). Usually I design my templates that I share here AFTER I construct my own prototype, but I loved getting to use the template this time.

Here’s how easily it is:

Steps to Construct DIY Number Card Boxes

1. Use template to cut out cardboard pieces.

2. Use hot glue to adhere long side of the long tray side, to the long edge of the tray bottom.

3. Check fit of short tray sides. Trim if necessary. Adhere using hot glue.

4. Check fit of long inside piece. Trim if needed. Adhere in place using hot glue.

5. Check fit for small interior pieces. Trim if needed. Adhere using hot glue. Use template as placement guide.

Tada! Your done. That was seriously it! Now go and put your DIY number cards in their box and grim ear to ear because you just made your life a little more organized! Hooray!
