We are finishing out our Antarctica unit as February ends. We will be starting a space unit come March. After that, my daughter has requested to learn more about Australia. Hoping to have some Spring Equinox and Easter activities sprinkled in there.
I’m not sure anyone is even interested in Antarctica or penguins at this point. I need to be better at rotating my shelves but with two kids and now a new baby (more on him soon!) it is so hard to find the time right now. We did learn quite a few new things though!
Here’s today’s final photo of our shelves:
On the top we have: penguin matching, parts of the penguin nomenclature cards, penguin life cycle 3-part cards, penguin puzzle, Antarctica fact cards, Antarctica animal fact cards, winter toddler cards, hot and cold sorting. Plus our favorite map book, Maps, C’s nature journal and (hiding by the plant) our braiding loom.
On the middle shelf we have: sandpaper letters i, p and r with their matching sound objects. We have sandpaper numbers, and 1-9 beads in a small basket, the binomial cube, our felt continent puzzle map and penguin life cycle arranging.
On the bottom shelf we have: wooden butterfly lacing toy, the knobbed cylinders, an empty tray ?♀️?, our color transparencies, color tablets box 1 and color tablets box 3
As I reflect on this, I realize this hardly paints much of a picture of what we’ve really been learning. I hope to better document our activities next month. I confess to not being the most organized, but I so fully see the value in it, as recording keeping and to have for memories.
